Corporate Video E-Learning Project | Behind the Scenes

Making top-level executives look great, feel confident and deliver engaging, authentic performances on camera is something we get called on to do quite often. Why? Because of our decades of experience delivering great results time and time again. A client of ours wanted to create an E-Learning series that would include over 120 segments for an online learning platform and tapped us to help them produce it. The series featured a mix of the companies senior leadership and a range of internal subject matter experts (SME’s).

On large projects that have to come together quickly, shoot circumstances can vary widely and it’s always important to be ready for production curveballs. For this shoot, all of the preferred locations at our client’s offices were already engaged, so we came up with a plan of leveraging a large commons area that would allow our executives to do a short walk & talk while providing a sense of the firm’s environment at the same time.

There’s a lot that goes into making big setups work! Especially when you have large environments with mixed lighting. We brought in additional daylight & tungsten balanced sources to ensure that we could give the shot a natural feel and make our subjects look great.

When in-house locations weren’t available to shoot a series of senior executives and subject matter experts for an online educational program, KSK secured a location on the same block as our client’s offices with similar views, so that the audiences would never know the difference and our executives wouldn’t have to go far.

In order to balance the brightness of the sunlit exterior skylines with the interior daylight balanced light sources, ND gels were applied to windows in the background of our subjects.

And here’s the results!

Sometimes, when shooting a large project, scenes will be added in locations you didn’t consider when starting the project but still need to be made to look and feel like they belong together seamlessly. Here, we ended up in shooting in a super tight conference room in a small office in sunny Florida.  We worked hard to keep as many factors as similar as possible to the other shots we’d done for the series back in New York.

We were even able to squeeze two different setups out of the same relatively small conference room (a room that was made smaller because the furniture couldn’t be removed).
